Refusal to honor credits
My daughter was to begin classes today at the South Beloit, Illinois High School, but they will not honor her home schooling credits from last year.

Refusal to honor credits

My daughter was to begin classes today at the South Beloit, Illinois High School, but they will not honor her home schooling credits from last year.

Are there laws to protect her, so that she does not have to repeat her sophomore class? She completed all her courses with me and I am satisfied that she is more than capable to advance to her junior year. Could you please give me advice as to what to do next? Thank you!

Dear Debra,

Each school sets their own policy regarding what they will or will not accept as far as credits go.

You might try appealing to the school board and if that fails, your only recourse is to try to find another school that will accept her credits or continue to homeschool her.

Sorry I couldn't offer you a more promising outcome in your daughters case.

You have probably have no recourse. Harvard won't accept credits from University of Phoenix, why would a local high school accept "credits" awarded by a parent.
